Welcome to our Festive Newsletter

Well, what a year it’s been! We hope that you have managed to get through 2020 healthy and largely unscathed.

We, as a group of companies, have fared well overall but it has not been easy sailing. We have managed to come through the COVID-19 pandemic intact thanks to you, our loyal customers, and the continued trust you are putting in us. Below you can find out more about some key developments that we wanted to share with you.

Moving into 2021, we remain optimistic and committed to delivering high quality Health & Safety training.

Until then, we wish you a very Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year.

Very best wishes,
Shaun & everyone at Alpha Training

Changes to our in person training delivery

We have changed some of the ways that we deliver our training at our Training Academy in Sussex. Some of these changes include:
  • Implementation of a one-way system for delegates to follow
  • Reconfiguration of the training rooms to allow for 2m distance between desks
  • Reduction in delegate numbers
  • Temperature and oxygen levelchecks on arrival
  • Provision of PPE for all delegates; this includes face masks, gloves and hand sanitiser. Dependent on the course further PPE will be provided – for example Confined Space – dedicated PPE Box per delegate to also include overalls and eye protection
  • Increase in cleaning regime with a deep clean after each training session
  • Change in cancellation terms
  • Sanitising stations throughout site
Feedback from our delegates has shown that they feel comfortable and safe with the measures we have taken.

ISO 45001:2018 Accreditation
Both Alpha Training Safety Solutions and Rescue 2 gained their ISO 45001:2018 accreditation, and both have successfully passed their ISO 9001:2015 audits. As anyone involved in these types of accreditation will know, a lot of preparation and effort goes into the process, and we could not be happier with the outcome.

Spotlight - Resource Management Team (RMT)

As for most, 2020 has been a year of incredible uncertainty, but at the same time we need to take stock (literally) and recognise our achievements within the Resource Management Team (RMT) in these uncertain times.  As we re-brand our department from the Equipment Team to the more suitably named Resource Management Team (RMT) our name may have changed but our main focus, as always, remains the same:

“To support all Trainers in their delivery of various courses both here in West Sussex and up and down the country to ensure our customer's delegates receive the very best training available and to ensure all Rescue 2 vehicles are sent out on rescue provision have the equipment required that has been serviced, inspected and is fit for purpose enabling the Rescue Technicians to do what they do best.”

Having the responsibility to ensure over 3000 items of equipment, many of which are safety critical, are ready to be used at any time takes a huge amount of planning and coordination, no two days are ever the same.

With the arrival of Matt into the RMT in August 2020 we have also spent a large amount of time concentrating on the complete refurbishment of the equipment Hangar, streamlining our processes and procedures and identifying areas where we can improve our support across the businesses.

We will take these positives into 2021, continue to build upon them and we are currently in the early planning stages of some very exciting developments for 2021 and beyond which will not only add value to our support to the business internally, but more importantly offer more services externally, to you, our customers.

Reflecting on 2020
Here are some of our trainers' views on their year:

Mark (Huey) Eaves: “I was fortunate enough to be asked to deliver a bespoke Fire Safety course for St Barts Hospital COVID ward staff. I felt this was a privilege to be doing something to help keep our front line NHS staff safe during the pandemic.”

Rich Streeter: “This year has had its many challenges, not only with the current pandemic but also on a business level. I’ve taken the opportunity to develop myself by doing an assessor course and developing various courses for Alpha Training. So yes a challenging year for the family as well with parents isolating and unable to see them, however now with a light at the end of a very dark tunnel I hope 2021 is happy and prosperous for all of us”

Neal Daniels: "2020 has been a challenging year for obvious reasons.  I have been lucky to be able to utilise the time afforded to me due to courses being cancelled, to continue my personal development.  I am now delivering the City & Guilds Medium Risk course and will shortly be signed off to deliver the City & Guilds High Risk and Rescue Recovery courses too. I have also taken the opportunity to enrol on a Level 3 Certificate in Assessment of Vocational Achievement course which will enable me to assess these course at a later date."
